Based on the research, it can be stated that the majority of Hungarians realistically assess the territorial and personal aspects of the spread of the coronavirus. 70 percent of the respondents think that the virus is a problem mainly in Budapest and Pest county, however, 28 percent see that the whole country is at high risk, while 1 percent think the same of rural settlements. In addition, two thirds of the respondents (66 per cent) say that the pandemic in question poses the greatest threat to the elderly, however, 32 percent believe that the coronavirus poses a threat to everyone equally.

The population can also be considered well-informed about the purpose of the current stage of defence: 94 per cent of Hungarians have heard that the emergency measures introduced in recent weeks have been aimed at preparing health care for the treatment of mass illnesses, and only 5 percent of them are not familiar with the reason for taking those steps.

It remains the case that the respondents are satisfied with the performance of the health care system in the pandemic situation: two thirds of the respondents (66 percent) say that hospitals and clinics are adequately prepared to care for a larger number of patients, while 28 percent of them have a different opinion.

It is important to emphasize that Hungarians support the country entering the next stage of defence: more than three-quarter of the respondents (76 percent) agree to gradually restart life and the economy, while 21 percent oppose the plan. There seems to be a social consensus on how to implement the planned decision: 91 percent of the respondents are in favour of the gradual relaunch of the economy by adhering to strict rules, while 5 percent would take this measure in one step when the pandemic is over.

It can also be stated that Hungarians are informed about the developments taking place in other European countries. 95 percent of the respondents have heard that several countries on our continent have commenced to gradually reduce the restrictive measures previously introduced and to relaunch the economy, but 5 percent have been unaware of these events.
