ECONOMIC POLICY MONITOR

The objective of the quarterly Economic Policy Monitor is to provide a comprehensive, thorough and deep analysis of the development of Hungarian fiscal policy, in the light of international examples and practices. First of all, the publication helps to understand the background and purpose of fiscal decisions by identifying the causes and the direct and indirect effects. Secondly, it reduces future uncertainties related to planning, and thus it serves as a compass for government measures.

The main emphasis of the publication is on the analysis of current fiscal policies, with special regard to the risks and possible adjustments, concerning the fulfillment of the budget deficit target. This analysis is complemented by a detailed overview of global fiscal developments and a summary of the advancements in the national real economy. One of the focus points of the publication is the discussion of the financial environment, the acquisition of financial resources by the state, and the review of the major factors affecting these. Moreover, the publication provides room for periodic analyses on fiscal policy. In general, these analyses look at  recently published documents, bills (e.g. discharge, budget act, tax bills, convergence program) that are related to the current or next years finances. The complex fiscal analysis and forecast, supported by the evaluation of the domestic and international macroeconomic environment may help corporations to gain deeper insights into the economic, fiscal and monetary developments, thus being able to reduce future uncertainties.
