Tamás Hegedűs

Economist, international security policy expert, senior analyst at the Macroeconomics Division. He started his career in 1998 as an economic policy analyst at the Strategic Analysis Centre of the Prime Minister’s Office, and later headed the Social and Economic Policy Department. From 2002, he worked at Matáv Zrt. as Wholesale Telecommunications Account Manager, then, between 2004 and 2010, as Senior Consultant and later Manager at KPMG Consulting Ltd. in the Telecommunications and Public Administration Business Unit. He was a member of Parliament from 2010 to 2014 and, since 2015, Research Fellow at the PAGEO Geopolitical Foundation. He has been an official at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade since 2016, where he has worked as a strategic analyst, security policy analyst, a rapporteur on Turkey, a rapporteur on Ukraine and then Head of the Department for Eastern Europe and South Caucasus. Since 2022, he has served as an economic diplomat at the Embassy of Hungary in Tbilisi. Since June 2023, he has been a senior macroeconomic analyst at Századvég Konjunktúrakutató, with a special focus on international comparative analyses and the macroeconomic context of major public systems.
