Dr. Zoltán Béky

At the beginning of his legal career, as a member of the then Hungarian media authority, ORTT, he started to deal with the challenges of legal regulation of online content services. Currently, within the Media Institute of the Századvég Foundation, his main research interests are the ability of online “new media” to influence public opinion and its impact on the democratic public life of states, and, in this light, certain issues of the legal regulation of these media services, with special regard to the enforcement of freedom of expression and freedom of the press, as well as other fundamental rights in the new public domain of communication. His current project is to analyse the current media regulatory acts of the European Union in terms of the rights of users of “new media services”.
