Levente Horváth has been engaged with China since 2005, initially spending a year as a high school student at Nanjing Jinling High School, an experience that led to his book The Hungarian Dragon. In 2007, he began his higher education at Fudan University in Shanghai, where he graduated with honors in Tourism Management and received a Rector’s Award. In 2021, he earned his Ph.D. summa cum laude from the Doctoral School of Earth Sciences at the University of Pécs.
His book Chinese Geopolitical Thinking was published in 2022 by Pallas Athéné Books.
Between 2015 and 2017, he served as Consul General of Hungary in Shanghai, strengthening Hungarian–Chinese relations. From 2017, he worked at the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (Central Bank of Hungary) as Head of the Education Department, and from 2019, as Chief Advisor to the Governor. In 2021, he was awarded the Magnolia Award by the Municipal Government of Shanghai, one of the highest honors granted to foreigners.
Since 2015, he has served as Vice President of the Fudan University Alumni Association. Between 2019 and 2020, he led the MNB–Corvinus International Executive Program at Corvinus University of Budapest, contributing to the establishment and operation of the Fudan–Corvinus Double Degree MBA Program.
His main research areas include China’s geopolitical mindset, Hungarian–Chinese relations, China’s Belt and Road Initiative, and the China–CEE 17+1 Cooperation.
