Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Robert Palladino assumed leadership of the Embassy of the United States to Hungary on March 7, 2025. He is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with extensive experience addressing critical foreign policy and national security challenges across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. He most recently served as Deputy Executive Secretary in the Office of the Secretary of State.
Previously, Mr. Palladino held key leadership roles, including U.S. Consul General to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and, during President Trump’s first term, Chief of Staff to then-Deputy Secretary of State Stephen E. Biegun, Deputy Spokesperson for the Department of State, and Director of Strategic Communications and acting National Security Council Spokesperson.
Mr. Palladino has served in a variety of overseas postings spanning Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Before joining the Department of State, he served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG), practicing law in both Asia and Europe.
