Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky is an agricultural engineer, businessman, diplomat, and politician. In the 2000s, he held leading positions in the telecommunications and media sectors and was also active as an investor. Since 2011, he has served as Deputy President of Hungary’s largest conservative research institute. From 2016 to 2020, he was Hungary’s Ambassador to London, and in 2022, he was appointed Minister of Defence.
He served for many years as a reserve major in the Hungarian Defence Forces and was elected President of the Association of Hungarian Reservists in 2014. For his services, he was awarded the highest level of the Distinguished for National Defense award in 2016.
